I
am Lauren G. Alexander, an attorney who has been licensed to practice
in the states of Georgia, Maryland, and Colorado. I currently practice
in Atlanta, Georgia.
After
21 years of litigation experience, I have focused my practice exclusively
on the collaborative process. I act as a mediator and as a guardian ad
litem in counties outside of Fulton County. In Fulton County, I sit as a
Judicial Officer in the Fulton Superior Court Family Division.
Long
before I learned about the collaborative process, my focus was on the
children of divorce and my concerns revolved around the detrimental
effects the traditional litigation model had on both the children and the
parties.
In
October of 2000, I attended a training on Collaborative Law. The
collaborative process dovetailed perfectly with my philosophy of family
cases. After all the dust settles in the traditional process, more often
than not, relationships are damaged beyond repair, children have been
harmed by a litigious process or parental power struggle, and the parties
are in a financial crisis.
Families,
and yours in particular, deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
The collaborative process seeks to address the needs of all family members
in a way that fosters good faith negotiation and a cooperative approach.
I
hope that this web site offers you an alternative to the traditional
litigation model. It is a sad and difficult time for anyone involved in
the divorce process. It is my hope as well as that of other collaborative
practitioners to act in a way that can address your needs by crafting
intelligent and creative solutions for you and your family.
